Station 62 assists on 3rd Alarm+++ fire

   On January 10, 2006 station 62 assisted station 63 (Loganville Fire Co.) with an explosion and fire at Adhesives Research Co. at 1147 hours.  Engine 62 responded to the scene on the 2nd alarm assignment and assisted with manpower and decon operations.  Tanker 62 responded to station 63 for stand-by, requiring station 12 to stand-by for station 62.

   At around 2000 hours, station 62 was alerted again for Adhesives Research on the 2nd alarm assignment.  All 3 pieces responded to the scene, as the incident escalated into a major fire with numerous explosions.  Over 30 fire departments responded to assist in fighting the fire.  The tanker hauled 7 loads of water in the shuttle, totalling 14,000 gallons of water,  The brush used 2 tanks of water hitting spot field fires caused by embers from the main fire.  The engine, meanwhile, was moved from the primary incident, where it had been drafting from drop tanks, to lay in and establish water supply from a hydrant on the Susquehanna Trail.  The engine moved in excess of 262,500 gallons of water while pumping at capacity for 3 1/2 hours.  Units returned at approximately 0500.

  Hats off to Loganville and Chief 63 for handling this incident with the 2 main goals that every fire department always has...  Everyone went home, and the fire was put out.
